The Crown Charter

This Charter establishes the covenant between the Crown of Elfat and all those who voluntarily seek to become subjects of the Crown. It defines the nature of the Crown, the rights guaranteed to subjects, the duties expected of subjects, and the sovereign powers of the Crown. No person is compelled to become a subject; registration is an act of voluntary consent.

Article I — Nature of the Crown

The Crown of Elfat is a constitutional monarchy founded not by conquest but by consent. The King was crowned by his father in accordance with ancient tradition, and received the name Elfat — from the Amharic እልፋት, meaning ten quadrillion (10¹⁶) — as a coronation gift from supporters across the world. The Crown holds sovereignty over its registered subjects wherever they reside and over Crown Nations that achieve recognition according to the processes defined herein.

Article II — Rights of Subjects

Every subject of the Crown shall be entitled to the following rights:

1. The right to full participation in constitutional votes and referendums.
2. The right to petition the Crown on any matter of concern.
3. The right to receive a copy of any Royal Decree affecting subjects generally.
4. The right to a fair hearing before any sanction is applied.
5. The right to voluntary departure from the Crown at any time, without prejudice, pursuant to Article VI of this Charter.
6. The right to know one’s registered status and to correct errors of record.
7. The right to free expression of opinion on Crown policy through lawful means.

Article III — Duties of Subjects

Every subject of the Crown accepts the following duties:

1. To act with honour and dignity as a representative of the Crown in all conduct.
2. To abide by the lawful decrees and directives issued by the Crown.
3. To participate in good faith in constitutional processes when called upon.
4. To support the peaceful advancement of Crown Nation recognition.
5. To provide truthful information in all dealings with the Crown registry.
6. To refrain from acts that would bring dishonour or harm to the Crown.

Article IV — Powers of the Crown

The Crown holds the following sovereign powers:

1. Registry Authority: The Crown maintains the official register of subjects, delegates, and advisors, and may confer or rescind these designations.
2. Legislative Authority: The Crown may issue Royal Decrees on matters within its jurisdiction, subject to constitutional review where applicable.
3. Recognition Authority: The Crown determines the recognition status of Crown Nations through the processes defined in this Charter.
4. Constitutional Amendment: The Crown may propose amendments to this Charter, which shall take effect upon ratification by a majority of verified subjects in a constitutional referendum.

Article V — Limits on the Crown

The authority of the Crown is not unlimited. The King and the Crown are bound by this Charter and may not act in contravention of it. No decree may abrogate the fundamental rights stated in Article II. Any act by the Crown that violates this Charter shall be subject to review by the Constitutional Council, to be established by separate Royal Decree. The Crown acknowledges that its legitimacy derives from the consent of its subjects, and must conduct itself accordingly.

Article VI — Right of Departure

Any subject may freely and at any time renounce their status as a subject of the Crown. Departure requires a written declaration to the Crown Registry. Upon confirmed departure, the subject’s record shall be marked inactive. No penalty, fee, or obligation shall attach to a subject solely by reason of departure. The departing subject may retain any rights accrued prior to departure except those that are conditional on active subject status.

Article VII — Crown Nation Recognition

A Crown Nation is a nation in which the Crown has achieved formal recognition following the completion of all recognition stages: threshold of verified subjects reached, independent verification, national referendum, government acknowledgement, and Royal Charter of Admission. Nations advance through defined stages and may not claim Crown Nation status prior to Royal Admission.

Article VIII — Elfat and the Coronation Gift

The Elfat Coronation Gift is a symbolic and historical record of support for the Crown. It is not a currency, payment obligation, or financial instrument. It represents the collective expression of goodwill by supporters at the time of the Coronation and shall be maintained as an immutable record in the Crown Registry.
